At Least 13 Dead, 28 Injured After Bus of Tourists Plunges Down 160-Foot Gorge

A bus crash in Colombia on January 3rd killed at least 13 people and injured 28. The accident occurred in the municipality of Tangua on a road connecting Pasto to Ipiales. The bus, carrying 42 people, was en route to the Santuario de las Lajas when it,

plunged into a 160-foot gorge. Authorities suspect mechanical failure and speeding, while local officials suggest the driver took an alternative route to avoid tolls. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Colombian President Gustavo Petro expressed condolences, while the tragedy follows a similar bus crash involving Colombian nationals in France.
