Hannah Glass, a 19-year-old student from Maranatha Baptist University, tragically died after an allergic reaction to a brownie containing peanut flour, which she unknowingly consumed despite her severe peanut allergy. The incident occurred on November 5, two days after her birthday, when a friend gave her the treat. Although Hannah used Benadryl initially, her condition worsened, leading to a collapsed lung and cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to revive her, she suffered severe brain damage and was later declared brain dead.
Before her passing on November 10, her family said their final goodbye during an “Honor Walk” as she donated her organs. Four individuals have received life-saving transplants thanks to Hannah’s donations. Her family has since urged others with food allergies to stay vigilant and keep their EpiPens updated. Hannah’s cremated remains were returned to her family, bringing a mix of emotions as they continue to grieve their loss.
