A deadly fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Turkey’s Kartalkaya ski resort killed 66 people and injured at least 51. The fire broke out in the 12-story hotel, trapping many guests. Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu confirmed one person was in critical condition, and two others died after,
jumping to escape the flames. Out of 234 guests, some escaped using sheets and blankets as ropes. Ski instructor Necmi Kepcetutan, who was asleep when the fire started, helped others evacuate. The incident occurred in Bolu province’s Koroglu Mountains in northwestern Turkey.
