Residents of an apartment building in Saint-Étienne, France, were shocked to hear what sounded like a baby crying around 4:30 a.m. on March 24. Upon investigating, they found blood trails leading to the building’s trash room, suggesting a recent birth. Emergency services were called,
and a team arrived to find a hypothermic newborn with the umbilical cord still attached. The infant was quickly stabilized and taken to the CHU of Saint-Étienne, where they were reported to be healthy. An investigation into the incident was launched.
